Bayern Munich entered its Champions League meeting with Viking FK holding an enormous advantage in squad market value, according to figures from Transfermarkt (via @iMiaSanMia).
That, of course, did not matter as Viking fought back to notch a 3-3 draw with the Bavarians in a shocking result.
Viking’s entire squad is valued at approximately €56 million, while Bayern’s squad boasts a staggering market value of €1.04 billion. The difference highlights the financial gulf between the Norwegian side and
one of European football’s traditional powerhouses.
FC Bayern’s valuation is nearly 19 times higher than Viking’s, underlining the disparity in resources and individual player valuations between the two clubs. The German giants boast an expensive collection of established international stars, including Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and other key figures who have helped establish Bayern as a perennial contender for major honors.
Viking, meanwhile, relies on its collective strength, tactical organization, and ability to make the most of its opportunities against a far wealthier opponent. A difference of this magnitude can look intimidating on paper, but market values do not determine the outcome of a football match — and Bayern Munich found that out the hard way.
