Roony Bardghji is currently away from Barcelona on international duty and has been reflecting on his early weeks with his new club.
The youngster was something of a surprise acquisition this summer but says he had always dreamed of playing for the Catalan giants and is confident he can play regularly.
“It wasn’t that much I thought about, it was just incredibly big and a dream I’ve always had. It was big for me and the family – for everyone,” he told fotballskanalen. “I’m enjoying it, the city and the club
are fantastic. There’s not much more to say.
“[Ambitions?] Get a lot of minutes. It’s a long season with a lot of matches in a lot of tournaments, I’m sure I’ll get a lot of playing time. So it’s just a matter of showing up and of course being patient at the start. Everyone who’s playing now at the start – it’s not like they’re going to come in straight away, it takes a little time. But then get into it and show what I can do.”
Roony also spoke about joining up with the likes of Hansi Flick and how he’s learning from top stars such as Robert Lewandowski.
“[Hansi Flick is] Incredibly good. I won’t go into it but he’s a fantastic coach and person. Knows how to talk to his players. We’ve had a lot of good conversations so it feels good,” he added.
“They are fantastic players, you learn every day from them. Especially those who have played there for several years, like Lewandowski (Robert) and all of them. You learn a lot from them, they are kind and take care of you. If there is something, they are always there to help.”
The new signing also revealed that Pedri had been helping him settle in and also spoke about how he loves the family feeling at Barcelona.
“It’s a fantastic group. It’s like a family – something I haven’t felt before in other teams – where everyone is really close to each other. Many of them have grown up and played together since youth football. It’s not really a group of friends that you’re with all the time, but everyone is with everyone,
“In the beginning there was a lot with Rashford because we were new. I had played against him before and we lived in the same hotel. We lived next door to each other in the hotel so it was automatic that you got closer to him.”
Roony has had to wait to be registered by Barcelona but will now be hoping he can make his competitive debut for the club following his summer transfer.
