NUFC stepping up pursuit of Palhinha (CaughtOffside)
Newcastle United might be starting to sweat the state of its midfield and could be ready to ramp up its pursuit of Bayern Munich veteran João Palhinha:
Newcastle United have stepped up their pursuit of João Palhinha, opening direct talks with Bayern Munich as Matthias Jaissle attempts to rebuild a midfield stripped of two major players this summer. Newcastle explored Pierre-Emile Højbjerg before the Dane rejected the move, and Palhinha has now emerged as one of their clearest alternatives. The Portugal
international also knows the Premier League extremely well following spells with Fulham and Tottenham, which could allow him to make an immediate impact.
The move would undoubtedly come down to just how much Bayern Munich is willing to sell Palhinha for. €30 million? €25 million? Less?
At this point, it is unclear, but time is ticking.
Barca to make a move for Gyökeres? (ESPN)
FC Barcelona is looking for a striker and could be taking a close look at Arsenal’s Viktor Gyökeres:
Barcelona are weighing up a move for Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres, El Chiringuito TV reports. Barça have reportedly identified the 28-year-old as a potential replacement for Ferran Torres, who has completed a switch to Paris Saint-Germain, and they are set to check on his situation to see if Arsenal would be willing to discuss a deal just one week before the Premier League season begins.
There were some rumors that FC Barcelona was considering the use of a strikerless system, but before anyone goes down Nagelsmann Road, maybe Barca will check out some options who could be available for the right price.
Bayern to continue club infrastructure investments (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Bayern Munich is looking toward the future and is not going to cut corners. The Bavarians are looking to create the best possible environment for players across of their teams and will continue to invest into the club’s infrastructure:
✅ It is TRUE: Bayern Munich are making efforts to improve the club’s infrastructure. If you find yourself around Säbener Straße, you’ll notice it’s looking a little different! There are many works going on, and for good reason. Players have recognised that the training centre isn’t quite as modern as some of their counterparts in the Premier League. It’s not so big, for instance. Jurgen Klinsmann instigated the last plans in 2008 to improve the facilities. On the other hand, there is a very good women’s football team, but they need more space, which is why Bayern Munich have bought a new stadium, Sportpark Unterhaching, but there were also enormous costs; they have to pay for it, for starters, and also make infrastructure changes. But make no mistake, if there is something that needs doing within the squad, the squad always comes first when it comes to spending money.
Facilities and the bells-and-whistles within them are vital in today’s game. Players do not just want the best facilities and amenities, they require them. This approach is smart for Bayern Munich. As the financial gap between the Premier League and Bundesliga widens, the Bavarians need any edge they can get.
Real eyeing Smit again (ESPN)
Real Madrid is taking another look at AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit:
AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit is on the radar of Real Madrid, says AS. Smit, 20, is reportedly ready to leave the Eredivisie to progress his career and AZ are willing to accept offers of around €60 million. Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have all shown interest in the Netherlands international before, but Jose Mourinho’s side would only move if one of their current options in midfield moves on.

Milan holding fire sale (ESPN)
AC Milan might really just be looking to sell everyone:
AC Milan are looking to move on as many as eight stars in the final few weeks of the window, according to Sky Italia. Key names include the likes of Fikayo Tomori, Christopher Nkunku, Santiago Gimenez, Pervis Estupiñán, and Youssouf Fofana. It comes as new Milan head coach Ruben Amorim looks to shake up the options at his disposal, having confirmed signings such as Gonçalo Ramos and Mario Gila.
SELL THEM ALL!
