Melker Ellborg: 6/10
Made one comfortable save from a free kick, where he pushed the effort wide. A couple of times he was a little slow to getting out to the ball after the centre backs had left the ball to him but without any real scares.
Trai Hume: 7/10
Comfortable night at right back and then at left back following Methalie’s substitution. His best moment going forward came from the left, when he burst forward and put in a cross after Fofana’s good work on the half way line.
Luke O’Nien (C): 6/10
Had a hairy moment early on when he could easily have given
away a penalty following a clumsy challenge, got away with it though and cruised through the game.
Omar Alderete: 6/10
A bit hit and miss with his passing, put in some overhit far post crosses that sailed out of play and underhit a pass to Hume late on that led to a Hull counter. Good defensively though and won plenty in the air.
Dayann Methalie: 7/10
Did well defensively throughout, was very aggressive in getting close to his man. Was a bit nervy first half with the ball but looked better after the break and had some really good bursts forward.
Jules Ahoka: 9/10
An excellent debut in the middle of the pitch, made things tick on the ball and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time defensively. Came close to a debut goal too but his header from a corner was clawed out by the goalkeeper.
Chris Rigg: 7/10
Played well alongside Ahoka in central midfield, got forward often down the right to link up with Ta Bi or lead the press. Had a free kick in a good position and hit it well but it was comfortably over.
Jocelin Ta Bi: 6/10
A little bit of a struggle for him in the first half, couldn’t get on the ball in dangerous areas enough and when it did come to him from a Rigg pass, he overhit his shot well over. Better after the break though, winning lots of free kicks after Hull resorted to dragging him down after he turned them inside out.
Chemsdine Talbi: 8/10
Scored a brilliant goal on the break, cheekily chipping the goalkeeper after being played in by Meunier. Looked like he suited the number 10 position he had tonight, caused problems on both sides of the pitch as a result and could have had another goal when he broke, stepped inside and forced a great save by the goalkeeper.
Malick Fofana: 6/10
Was having a quiet game until Methalie went off, then seemed to combine better with Hume down the left. Showed nice feet under pressure, then played a lovely ball to the overlapping Hume. Had a hand in the goal too with a good header on the edge of his own box.
Wilson Isidor: 6/10
Only had half chances really, headed a floated effort just over the bar and then skewed a ball wide. Ran the channels well but a relatively quiet night.
Substitutes
Thomas Meunier: 7/10
Came on and was quickly involved in a goal, hitting the ball over the top for Talbi to run onto.
Alan Browne: 6/10
Came on as we looked to see the game out and kept the ball well.
Timur Tutierov: 6/10
Hit a wild shot over from a tight angle but gave us an out on the break.
Tom Proctor: 6/10
Did well when he was on the ball but put himself about when he came on.
Man of the Match: Jules Ahoka
Talbi looked like he had a point to prove tonight but my man of the match was Jules Ahoka who looked the part on his debut. Everything went through him when we were on the ball, had an eye for an incisive central ball but also played some lovely diagonal balls to the flanks. Seemed to be everywhere defensively and won headers at both ends of the pitch, going close to a goal from a header from a corner.
