Bayern Munich faced FC Augsburg in the weekend, in their second Bundesliga fixture of the 2025 season. The team managed to maintain a clear three goal lead and a cleansheet, until tragedy stuck in the second half and two goals were conceded. Nonetheless, the team walks away with three points.
Following the game, manager Vincent Kompany, was asked about whether he was still hoping that Nicolas Jackson would join Bayern, and if not, whether he was worried that a replacement won’t be signed in time.
It is noteworthy that following the agreement made towards a loan with option to buy, a report was released that Chelsea wished to block the move following Liam Delap’s injury. Arguably, it’s a little unfair to ask the manager about impending transfers, especially considering the circumstances, and the fact that this was an away game. However, Kompany dealt with the situation coolly.
The manager said, “I went to the dressing room and as soon as I heard a little bit of talk I went away, so when I come here I have plausible deniability. I heard nothing, I know nothing. I’ll find out when I get onto the bus,” per @iMiaSanMia, denying any knowledge of the situation.
“But I know what my job is, my job is making sure the players I have perform at the highest level. For everything else we have people who are working very hard. I trust them and we’ll see what happens,” the manager declared, placing his trust in the Front Office regarding transfers.
Amid all of the transfer craziness surrounding Bayern Munich’s work with Chelsea over a loan deal for Nicolas Jackson, there was an actual game to be played — and Bayern Munich was up to the task even if a slow start and a midgame loss of focus might have given Die Fuggerstädter some hope.
