Ronald Araujo admits he’s been saddened by news that Raphinha is out for five weeks after suffering an injury on international duty with Brazil.
Raphinha is set to miss some key games for Barcelona over the next month or so and Araujo admits it’s a massive blow for the Catalans.
“I just saw him, and honestly, I’m very sad. Everyone knows how important Raphinha is to us, and well, I hope he can recover soon because we need him,” he told reporters after Uruguay’s friendly with England.
“In the end, we
have to compete, at the club, with the national team, we’re professionals. It’s a real shame that it’s happening at this time, because his national team suffers and the club suffers, especially now, but we have to be professional and that’s what we have to do.”
Araujo emerged unscathed from Uruguay’s clash with England, although he did come in for scrutiny for his challenge on Phil Foden, and will now face Algeria on Tuesday in another friendly.
