Injuries to Jordan Love have been distressingly common since he took over as the Packers’ starting quarterback.
Love made it through all of 2023 without issue, but opened 2024 with a knee injury in Week 1 that affected most of his season. He’s been banged up a couple of times in 2025 as well, missing time against the Giants and Bears for different but still significant injuries, though he returned in the Giants game.
But as much time as Love has missed, the Packers have hardly missed a beat because
of super backup Malik Willis. Whenever the Packers have needed him, Willis has stepped up and performed. He helped the Packers to two wins as a starter in 2024, and pulled another game out of the fire with a game-winning drive. This year, he threw a seeing-eye touchdown in relief of Love and would have led the Packers to an improbable win against the Bears if Keisean Nixon and Romeo Doubs had done their jobs.
True, he’s not perfect, but nobody is, and Willis has kept the Packers competitive and then some every time he’s been on the field. That’s about all you can ask from any backup quarterback, and Willis has delivered that and more.
