How does one handle a situation like Sacha Boey’s? The Frenchman’s two years at Bayern Munich have been rocky, but he has arguably hit an all time low as of January 2026, having failed to play a single minute of competitive football since the first of November, 2025, and having been ruled out sick for over a month now.
Boey is out of form, out of the squad and has to battle through illness at the moment. One could very well argue the former Galatasaray defender could use a change of scenery. It seemed
Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, did the same after Bayern’s recent 5-0 friendly win over RB Salzburg. But it seems the discussion about the quality at the full back situation and that one or the other might have to think of a change was apparently not strictly aimed at Boey.
Asked about if there was any movement in the January transfer marker for Boey ahead of Bayern’s Bundesliga clash against VfL Wolfsburg, Eberl had this to say: “I didn’t name any names. I only answered questions in a general manner,” the former Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director corrected, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “If a player has a desire to move, we need to talk about it. There are players with whom we would say: no chance – and there are other players with whom we would be open to discussion.”
It certainly seems very, very heavily implied that Boey is the center of these comments. Regardless, it seems there is little movement on that front as the Frenchman continues to battle his illness.
