Ismael Bonfim has once again had a disastrous day at the scale.
At Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 122, Bonfim missed weight for the third time in his run with the promotion, coming in at 163.5 pounds, an egregious 7.5 pounds over the non-title limit for his lightweight bout with Francisco Prado.
Bonfim previously missed weight by five pounds for a November 2025 bout against Chris Padilla, and by 3.5 pounds for a November 2023 fight against Vinc Pichel that was subsequently rescheduled. “Marreta”
told MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz that he “finally got serious” about his diet after the Padilla gaffe, but it appears he has strayed from that path again.
With Prado successfully making weight at 155 pounds, it is not yet known if Prado vs. Bonfim will proceed at a catchweight and, if so, what percentage of Bonfim’s purse will be forfeited as penalty.
Two other fighters also missed weight for Saturday’s card, with Ketlen Souza (117)* coming in one pound over the strawweight limit, and Brendson Ribeiro (208.5) coming in 2.5 pounds over the light heavyweight limit.
As with Bonfim, it is not yet known if Souza and Ribeiro’s respective fights will proceed as catchweights.
In better news, middleweight headliners Brendan Allen (186) and Christian Leroy Duncan (185) both successfully made weight. Saturday’s main event is a pivotal matchup for both men as Allen fights to stay near the front of the contender line, while Duncan has a chance to knock off another highly ranked opponent after defeating one-time title challenger Jared Cannonier in his most recent outing.
