The New England Patriots have a new fullback Reggie Gilliam, who spent the first six seasons of his career in Buffalo, is joining the team on a three-year, $12 million deal. According to a report by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Gilliam will get $4.4 million in his first season with the club.
Gilliam, 28, spent his college career at Toledo and entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Bills in 2020. Over the next five seasons, he appeared in a combined 108 regular season and playoff games for
Buffalo.
Serving mainly as a lead blocker in the running game, he carried the ball only eight times for 14 total yards while also catching 19 passes for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns. In addition to his work on offense, he also was a regular on special teams for the Bills.
In 2025, he was on the field for 21% of offensive snaps as well as 76.5% in the kicking game. Gilliam touched the ball four times for 28 yards in his 19 total games and also notched 14 tackles.
With Gilliam added to the mix, the Patriots now have three fullbacks under contract for 2026. He is being joined by Jack Westover, who was tendered as an exclusive rights free agent on Monday, as well as sophomore Brock Lampe, who spent 2025 on injured reserve.
Gilliam is the Patriots’ second signing of free agency week. The team previously brought edge defender Dre’Mont Jones in on a three-year, $39.5 million pact.
