Bayern Munich youngster Jonathan Asp Jensen is lighting it up in Switzerland for Grasshopper Club Zürich — four goals and two assists already in his first seven league games, all of them starts.
“Jonny
has adapted and developed extremely quickly in his first three months with us,” said Alain Sutter, Grasshopper sporting director and a Bayern alum himself, in comments captured by @iMiaSanMia. “I’m convinced he has the potential to play in the Bundesliga in the future.
“He has great weapons, he’s especially very strong in 1v1 and has incredibly good finishing. Logically, the defensive area is not yet one of his strengths, because he always played for dominant teams in his youth and therefore was not often challenged in terms of tackling and physicality. Jonny joined us with the conviction that this was the right place for him to further develop precisely those qualities in which he needed to catch up. The good thing for him here is that our club has the courage to trust young talents who, like him, still have a lot to learn.”
This is one loan that seems to have been executed perfectly from Bayern’s perspective. The 19-year-old is in his first test away from the club and starting and starring in a European top flight. That should offer exactly the seasoning he needs to return to Bayern next season stronger, savvier, and ready to compete.
