As expected, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany confirmed that Raphaël Guerreiro is out for the Chelsea match, but the injury does not appear to be overly serious.
That led to Kompany discussing how the position will be manned.
“It’s not serious, I don’t know if he might return against Hoffenheim. He needs a bit of time, though,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Josip Stanišić has played on the left and did well, so has Konrad Laimer. Guerreiro will hopefully be back next week. We’ll
manage it. And Alphonso Davies will also return eventually. It’s no good complaining about it. Our job is to deal with situations like this.”
Kompany was asked if Tom Bischof can play left-back and the head coach did not rule it out.
“Tom has played on the left before. I actually wanted to take Joshua Kimmich off against Hamburg, but then Raphaël Guerreiro said he had to come off. Tom has talent on the ball and a good attitude. It’s his first season at the really top level, we’re pleased he’s here. I think what matters to him right now is minutes, and not the position. It’s refreshing to have him in the squad,” said Kompany.
With Hoffenheim coming up, could Bischof get a starring role against his old club?
