Olise tough for everyone to figure out (Kicker’s Georg Holzner)
Nearly everyone thinks that Bayern Munich will swat away any attempts from other clubs to lure Michael Olise away from Bavaria.
However, nearly no one can get a read on what exactly Olise wants to do next — not even those closest to him:
It’s unclear what the Bayern Munich player, whose contract runs until 2029, wants for himself. Internally, Olise, who is completely focused on sporting success and primarily enjoys playing football, is considered difficult to pin down and understand, especially regarding
his personal career plans.
Knowing what little we do about Olise, he does seem like the kind of chap who would be laser-focused in on the task at hand. In this case, it is the World Cup. So, even those who might think they know the Frenchman the best really might have no idea what his future plans are.
To paraphrase Tom Petty, “with the shadow of a doubt, he’s a complex kid.”

PSG to lose a couple of key reserves? (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano via ESPN)
Paris Saint-Germain has talent overflowing on its roster, but it is tough to keep all of that talent happy. As such, Kang-in Lee and Goncalo Ramos could be out:
Kang-in Lee and Goncalo Ramos both plan to leave Paris Saint-Germain to get more game time, with Atletico Madrid having asked about both months ago.
Bayern not worried about building up bank account per journo (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Bayern Munich does not have an unlimited budget, but it is in a strong financial position. That said, the club will not be tempted by massive offers on Michael Olise or Harry Kane even if nine-figure offers could power the club’s finances for years to come:
Not on the famous German festgeldkonto (so the Bayern Munich bank account is called in Germany in the Bundesliga). There is a lot of money on it, albeit not as much in recent years after the purchase of Harry Kane from Tottenham! Michael Olise falls into a similar bracket as the England captain. Simply, Bayern don’t feel they need to add money to the festgeldkonto by selling Olise.
We spoke to Herbert Hainer, the president of Bayern Munich, and he told us it’s nice Real Madrid appreciate the right winger, but Florentino Perez can keep his money – he doesn’t need to make an offer. There’s no chance when it comes to Michael Olise. Forget about it. It’s just time he’d be losing. It’s worth noting that Hainer really enjoyed the lunch he held with Perez before the Champions League clash in Madrid, but there won’t be a deal for the Frenchman this summer.
Ajax wants Ter Stegen (Marca via ESPN)
Ajax would not mind bringing in Marc-André ter Stegen, but his big salary is a problem:
Ajax are looking to secure a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, though they face difficulty in the pursuit of the 34-year-old due to his €15 million-a-season salary.
Bayern bid on Rashford “imminent” (TEAMtalk)
This seems unlikely, but one report states that a bid from Bayern Munich to Manchester United for Marcus Rashford is “imminent”:
Manchester United are increasingly confident of signing West Ham star Mateus Fernandes, while a Bayern Munich bid for Marcus Rashford is ‘imminent’, which comes as a significant boost for INEOS.
TEAMtalk reported earlier today how Bayern Munich are growing increasingly confident of securing the England international’s signature. The German giants have held positive talks with Rashford’s representatives and are preparing an opening bid in the region of €25million (£21.5m / $29m).
The 28-year-old had a successful loan spell with Barcelona this season, notching 14 goals and 14 assists and playing a key role in the Catalans’ LaLiga triumph. Barca had been keen to retain Rashford, but so far opted against activating their €30million (£26m / $35m) purchase clause, which expires in just three days time (June 15).
Instead, the LaLiga champions attempted to secure another loan deal, leveraging on the fact that they believed Rashford was very keen to stay. This annoyed INEOS and Man Utd, who had no plans to reintegrate Rashford into the squad, but wanted to recoup a transfer fee for his services.
Now, Bayern are pushing for a deal, and the positive talks with Rashford’s representatives suggest he’ll be heading to Bavaria on a permanent deal.
With most of the focus (and money) going toward Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown at the moment, it is hard to think this Rashford report will come to fruition. It is not impossible, but might require some financial maneuvering.
Spurs eyeing Gakpo (ESPN)
A year ago, Bayern Munich was pretty closely linked to Liverpool FC’s Cody Gakpo, but ultimately landed his teammate, Luis Díaz, instead. Now, Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly keeping an eye on the Dutchman:
Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Atlético Madrid, according to TEAMtalk. It is reported that the 27-year-old could be willing to move on from Anfield if he loses his place in the starting lineup to upcoming prospect Rio Ngumoha, who recently impressed on his England debut during the 1-0 international friendly win over New Zealand on Saturday. The report adds that the Reds are open to including Gakpo in a swap deal to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, who continues to be linked as a potential Mohamed Salah successor.
