Newcastle United are reportedly monitoring Royale Union Saint-Gilloise winger Anan Khalaili as they continue searching for a replacement for Anthony Gordon.
According to The Athletic, Newcastle have watched the 21-year-old, who has also attracted interest from Tottenham, Bournemouth and Napoli.
“Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s winger Anan Khalaili is in demand,” The Athletic reported. “The Belgian Cup winners have yet to receive an offer for Khalaili, who has a contract until 2028 (with the option for a further
year) and no release clause, but Tottenham, Bournemouth, Napoli and Newcastle have all expressed an interest in the Israeli.”
Khalaili fits Newcastle’s wider search for attacking reinforcements after Gordon’s move to Barcelona. The Athletic doubled down on Newcastle’s replacing of Gordon as being a top priority for the club, with the Magpies looking for a versatile forward who can play across multiple positions.
The report also named the usual suspects as alternative targets, including Osasuna’s Victor Munoz, Koln’s Said El Mala and Hoffenheim’s Bazoumana Toure as attackers watched by Newcastle.
Newcastle also made contact over AIK winger Zadok Yohanna, though Brighton has already confirmed the player chose them over NUFC and Chelsea, who also submitted bids to AIK, trying to complete a transfer.
In a bit of negative news, Khalaili’s contract situation means Union SG are under no pressure to sell him, and on top of that, it’s been reported that the player has no release clause in his current contract, giving the club all the leverage in negotiations.
