Barcelona star Lamine Yamal reportedly spoke to Spain boss Luis de la Fuente on Thursday of this week and asked not to be called up to the latest national team squad.
According to AS, Yamal was feeling
some discomfort after the defeat to PSG and told De la Fuente that he felt “it would be best to rest for the next two weeks.”
However, it seems that the Spain boss wasn’t too happy with Yamal’s idea. He reportedly told the teenager that “if he could play against Sevilla, he could also play for the national team.”
Yamal went back to Barcelona and told them all about his conversation which led to Deco getting in touch with Aitor Karanka. The response was reportedly “just as unsympathetic as the national team coach.”
To make matters worse, Spain then announced their squad, which included Yamal, leading to “outrage” at Barcelona and the feeling they were being provoked.
The Catalan giants subsequently issued a statement confirming that Yamal would be out for 2-3 weeks, while Hansi Flick once again criticised Spain over the saga during his latest press conference.
