This trade isn’t quite as dynamic as the more famous trade Chicago made with Carolina, but the Bears did trade with the Panthers, allowing Carolina to shuffle down a second time after a move with the Las Vegas Raiders. They gave up #129 and #144 in order to get #124, receiving #166 back in the process. This eas a very slight overpay, but it was again within the normal range.
The move allowed them to take cornerback Malik Muhmmad. This sort of move shows that general manager Ryan Poles is willing to move up
to secure a player he’s worried about missing out on, which could be a sign that he is content with other players fell to him or could be a sign he’s learning from prior lessons—depending on how you want to read this particular inkblot test.
