Season 10 of Contender Series is a wrap.
On Tuesday night, Week 10 of Season 10 of Contender Series took place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, bringing the 2026 season to a close. But for a season defined by big knockouts and total wars, Week 10 was a mixed bag: one slobberknocker, two finishes, and a pair of fights that left the crowd underwhelmed. In the end, UFC CEO Dana White awarded four contracts, bringing the season-long total to 46, tying the show’s record.
Erick Visconde def. Ilias Bulaid
In
the main event of the evening, Erick Visconde outclassed Ilias Bulaid, winning a wide unanimous decision.
Visconde came out and went right to his grappling, shooting takedowns and controlling Bulaid on the floor from the opening bell. Bulaid struggled to keep Visconde off him, but did a good enough job to prevent Visconde from getting close to finishing him. The end result was a fairly dominant performance from Visconde, but one that had the crowd booing loudly by the end of it. Afterward, Visconde told Laura Sanko that he broke his hand in the second round, which slowed his offense somewhat.
Unfortunately for Visconde, White was unmoved, telling him that he showed promise but didn’t deliver as expected tonight, so he will have to try again next eyar.
Smilla Sundell def. Aline Pereira
In the co-main event of the evening, Smilla Sundell outworked Aline Pereira to pick up her third MMA win and a UFC contract.
The former ONE Championship Muay Thai champ, Sundell is just 21 years old, but already highly accomplished in combat sports. With only two MMA bouts under her belt, though, it was an open question how she might look against better MMA competition. But Pereira, sister of Alex Pereira, didn’t test her too much in the grappling, consenting to a striking contest that Sundell won with forward pressure and volume.
During the contract ceremony, White revealed that he thought Sundell was too young and needed to do more development, but after speaking with the team, he was outvoted, offering her a UFC contract.
Luis Francischinelli def. Will Rentz
In the swing bout of the evening, Luis Francischinelli made a statement, knocking out Will Rentz in the first round to earn his UFC contract.
At 6-foot-6, Francischinelli dwarfed Rentz in the cage, and Rentz immediately tried to mitigate that height advantage with takedowns. But even after securing a takedown, Francischinelli did a good job of using his legs to create scrambles, which he then used to get back to his feet. And once on the feet, Francischinelli’s length and power was too much for Rentz to handle, as he dropped him with a short left hand, finishing with strikes on the ground.
Douglas da Lapa def. Davi Cabral
In the second bout of the evening, Douglas da Lapa put on a show with Davi Cabral, finishing him with strikes in the third round to earn his spot in the UFC.
At 6’3, da Lapa towered over the 5’8 Cabral, and used that height and length to great effect, chewing Cabral up with powerful combinations. But Cabral showed an insane chin, eating everything da Lapa had to throw and continuing to come forward, even hurting da Lapa pretty badly. But Da Lapa never stopped, though, and at the end of the second round, he hurt Cabral, forcing him to cover up along the fence. Cabral barely made it out of the round, but the damage was done, and at the start of the third, da Lapa dropped him with a pair of hooks and finished the bout, earning his UFC contract.
Greg Foster def. Jason Asher
In the opening bout of the evening, Greg Foster and Jason Asher put on a barnburner of a fight, racking up an absurd number of significant strikes en route to a Foster unanimous decision win.
Known for his pressure and pace, Foster made sure Asher was well-acquainted with his style, coming right out of the gate and setting a blistering pace. Despite dropping him with a spinning backfist, Asher struggled to keep Foster off him, and “Punch First” took full advantage. Asher kept battling, though, and in the third round, he started to come on strong, catching a Foster kick and getting a takedown. Asher was able to do good work on top but not enough to finish him, and when the judges weighed in, it was clear 29-28s across the board for Foster.
