The game against Wisconsin will bring a ton of recruits all across the country to Michigan Stadium this Saturday, and that includes a prospect with major family ties to the program that was recently predicted to wind up playing for the Wolverines. In today’s Recruiting Roundup, we’ll discuss some guys who plan on attending the Maize Out this weekend, as well as a four-star prospect Michigan is battling an SEC school for.
Charles Woodson’s son predicted to land at Michigan
One of the most important visitors this weekend is 2027 three-star defensive
back Charles Woodson Jr. The legacy prospect was offered by LaMar Morgan and company back in June and will make his way to Ann Arbor this weekend for the first time as a recruit.
Heading into the visit, Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong placed a prediction for the Wolverines to eventually land the son of NFL Hall-of-Famer and Michigan’s last Heisman Trophy winner, Charles Woodson. Speaking with On3’s Ethan McDowell ($), Woodson Jr.’s high school coach, David Aubrey, explained that it doesn’t appear Michigan is going after him because of his dad’s legendary status at the university.
“They did their research,” Aubrey said. “They did their homework. I genuinely feel they didn’t offer him because of his father. Charles is a guy. He has the film to show it. He has the grades to show it. Obviously, he has the build to play at that level. They came on late, so I truly feel that Charles Jr. is creating a name for himself.”
Morgan is working hard to ensure Woodson Jr. is feeling the love from Ann Arbor. He recently visited him at his high school in Florida and showed up very, very early.
“(Morgan’s visit) went well,” Aubrey said. “Coach Morgan’s a great guy. He obviously has a huge interest in Charles Woodson Jr., so we were excited to have him in town. And then, it was really cool that he showed up at our 5 a.m. practice.”
It’s probably safe to say that Michigan sits in a great spot with him entering this visit. Other than Michigan, Woodson Jr. also holds offers from Florida State, Baylor, Ole Miss, Iowa State and others.
Major flip target also visiting this weekend
Woodson Jr. is far from the only prospect visiting Ann Arbor this weekend, as the Wolverines will also be playing host to one of the top linebackers in the 2026 class — four-star Nick Abrams II.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder from Maryland has been committed to the Georgia Bulldogs since July, but Brian Jean-Mary and company were able to convince him to come up for an unofficial visit just one week after he took in the Georgia loss to Alabama in Athens.
In a conversation with Rivals’ Wiltfong ($), Abrams detailed what he likes about the Wolverines and why they remain in the running despite his verbal pledge to Georgia.
“Michigan is a fantastic school,” Abrams said. “They talked a big game about the atmosphere in the Big House. I’m eager to see how it compares to Sanford Stadium. Additionally, observing how they utilize the linebackers, I’ve seen some of the footage, but actually watching it in person will be beneficial.”
Flipping away won’t be easy, as his bond with the coaches at Georgia is strong. However, it does seem like there is a real opportunity for the Wolverines to flip a Bulldog commit for the second straight cycle.
“I think they’re both great schools,” Abrams said. “Michigan did many things right during my official visit, which made me want to take a second look. It will be challenging for me to change my mind about Georgia. They check almost every box. I’m looking forward to what Michigan has to offer during my visit.”
Perhaps Michigan can check every box this weekend since Georgia only checks “almost every box.”
Michigan tied with SEC school for four-star LB
Abrams isn’t the only linebacker in the 2026 class that Jean-Mary is focused on. He and the Wolverines are still in pursuit of four-star DQ Forkpa. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder transferred to St. Frances Academy for his senior year of high school, the former stomping grounds of associate head coach Biff Poggi — that certainly can’t hurt Michigan’s chances.
But the recruitment of Forkpa has had a lot of twists and turns — he was initially planning on announcing a commitment this summer, and The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb even had a Crystal Ball for Forkpa to land in Ann Arbor. However, he postponed his commitment date and is still sorting through all his options as we speak.
Michigan’s biggest competition now? The Missouri Tigers, as he told Rival’s Wiltfong ($) that Michigan and Missouri are currently tied. He took a trip to Missouri last week and he had really positive things to say.
“Amazing,” Forkpa said. “I don’t know what they could’ve done better to be honest. Great people in the building. Got along well with the players and Coach D Nic (Derek Nicholson) is a great coach.
“What continues to excite me is really the opportunity to play early, I’m getting recruited to come in and make an early impact.”
This is a big development, as Florida and Florida State were once viewed as the two teams standing in Michigan’s way. The one constant in this recruitment has been Michigan, so we’ll see if Jean-Mary can convince Forkpa to come up north for a game day visit.
