Dana White may be one of the reasons why the superfight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is on the ropes, but that isn’t going to stop the UFC CEO from staying involved with the promotion of the upcoming Netflix event.
That is, of course, if the fight still happens.
As you may know, White and Joshua’s manager, Eddie Hearn, have been intertwined in a public battle dating back to earlier this year. It all started when White snatched boxer Conor Benn from Hearn’s stable of fighters to help roll out
the new age of Zuffa Boxing, Hearn tried to retaliate by signing UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall to his management team, but that did little to disrupt White and UFC’s business.
The feud has continued ever since then so it wasn’t a huge surprise to hear that Hearn doesn’t want White to be part of the Fury vs. Joshua promotion at all. Unfortunately for Hearn, he’s not running the show. That right belongs to Turki Alalshikh, who is fronting the bill for the upcoming Netflix card and will ultimately get what he wants one way or the other. This includes the help of White in promoting whatever matchup is headlining the card.
White, who has nothing good to say about Hearn, recently responded to his comments that the UFC CEO will not have a chance to promote Fury vs. Joshua. Of course, Hearns remarks didn’t sit well with White so he needed to set the record straight.
Check out some of White’s responses below:
“I think the press release speaks for itself.”
“You think Netflix gives a sh-t what Eddie Hearn thinks?”
“Who’s gonna stop me?”
