During tonight’s 120-109 Warriors win over the Brooklyn Nets, Steph Curry passed former Brooklyn Net Kevin Garnett for 21st place on the NBA’s all-time scoring leaderboard.
Next up, Curry will have to score 324 more points to pass Celtics great John Havlicek. If Curry continues to average 28.9 points per game, this will be doable in under twelve games. If Steph Curry continues to average 28.9 points per game for the remaining 49 games of this NBA season, he will be able to pass Paul Pierce, Tim Duncan,
Dominique Wilkins, Russell Westbrook, Oscar Robertson, Hakeem Olajuwon, Elvin Hayes, and Moses Malone, putting him in 12th place overall.
Of course, it’s not a competition. It’s also not my job to do math problems. The all-time scoring leaderboard is, in fact, a leaderboard, though, and at age 37, Steph Curry is showing no signs of slowing down.
Tonight, versus the Nets, Curry logged 39 points. At this pace, he could make it into the top five before retiring — or at least get past the jump from Moses Malone’s 26,488 to Carmelo Anthony’s 28,209.
Either way, it’s not a competition. We’re just proud of our GOAT.
