Ahead of this weekend’s heavyweight title fight, challenger Daniel Dubois talks a bit about this fight with Fabio Wardley, where he’s come from to get here, and more in a conversation with Queensberry Promotions. Dubois will be looking to regain world title status on Saturday and silence any criticism about whether or not he’s got the heart to come through.
Dubois on if he believes he’s become a man of the people in British boxing
“Yeah, well I think our journey anyway has been the people coming up, fighting the battles and coming through it. You know, from the days my dad
was taking me to the gym until now, we ain’t changed. We’ve just been coming through our battles, coming through our wars, and here we are now. Man of the people. I’m the champion, people’s champion.”
On being called a binman
“I’ve got an answer for [Wardley] when I see him. I’ve got an answer for him when I see him, yeah.”
On Wardley being favored to win
“I know what I’m here for, I’m here to fight. I can’t wait ‘til Saturday, just keeping me primed ‘til then.”
On if stopping Joshua was the pinnacle of his career
“No, I wouldn’t say that’s the best moment but that was definitely up there.”
On wanting to eclipse that moment against Wardley
“This is the type of fight that I need at this level, this stage of my career. Drag the best out of me.”
