We’re less than 48 hours away from one of the season’s biggest games as Kentucky Football welcomes the LSU Tigers to Kroger Field. In what has been a successful season so far, a win would really push this season to the top and put the Cats squarely in playoff contention.
Unfortunately, they will have to do it shorthanded, especially on defense.
We learned last night that the Cats would be without Alex Afari, Tavion Wallace, Antwan Smith, Jaden Smith, and Grant Grayton on defense, while Aba Selm will
be out for the offensive line.
In tonight’s update for UK we saw Kalen Edwards move from questionable to doubtful, while starting long snapper, Cole Marszalek, was removed and appears good to return this week. Edwards would be a big loss, as he’s been an impact player in the middle of Kentucky’s defense while logging 117 snaps this season, even recording a 91.9 Pro Football Focus grade in Week 2 vs. Alabama.
The good news is that DJ Miller is not listed on the report and appears to be set to return to the field. That would be a massive boost for the offense, especially after Nic Anderson finally had his breakout game in Columbia. The three-man attack of Miller, Anderson, and Kenny Darby could become a major threat for opposing defenses to deal with.
For LSU, the biggest loss of the week still remains Whit Weeks, as the starting linebacker is out with a leg injury. No new players appeared tonight, as Lane Kiffin’s squad looks to be coming to Lexington fairly healthy for Week 6.
With it looking like it will be a rainy and windy Saturday night, let’s hope these linebacker injuries don’t come back to hurt the Cats.
