Happy Tuesday one and all.
Hope your offseason is going well.
We finish up looking at the 2026 undrafted free agents with a look at Ole Miss safety Wydett Williams Jr.
From the team:
Wydett Williams Jr. (WHY-dett) (6-1, 200) played last season at Mississippi and helped the Rebels make the College Football Playoff where they appeared in the Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium. In 2025 with Mississippi, Williams had 73 tackles, 10 passes defensed and three interceptions while appearing in all 15 games. He
also spent time at Delta State (2022-23) and Louisiana-Monroe (2024) during his collegiate career. Overall, Williams totaled 247 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 20 passes defensed, 2.0 sacks, six interceptions, three fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a blocked kick in 50 games in his college career.
Where Williams will make his mark early is on special teams, something that every undrafted free agent has to do well if he wants to find a roster.
Lance Zierlein has the same thought:
Williams has good size and his on-ball production carried over from a smaller school into the SEC. He lacks functional speed and athleticism as a coverage option in space, so he will be limited to zone coverages in the pros. He’s fearless as a run defender but still needs work in his approach as a tackler. Williams’ kick-coverage production helps, but the athletic profile might not be enough for him to stick on a roster.
Welcome to the desert, Wydett.
