Colgate transfer Jalen Cox, a 6-3, 180-pound standout point guard, is scheduled to visit Kentucky Basketball on Wednesday, according to Sam Kayser of Kayser Hoops, as the Wildcats continue evaluating backcourt options in the transfer portal.
Cox, the Raiders’ leading scorer this past season, averaged 17.9 points, 5.3 assists, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 36.5% from 3-point range. His all-around production earned him First Team All-Patriot League honors as well as a spot on the All-Defensive
Team.
The guard made a significant leap from his sophomore season, when he was already on Kentucky’s radar during Colgate’s trip to Rupp Arena in the 2024-25 season. That night, in Mark Pope’s first year leading the Wildcats, Kentucky held off a scrappy Colgate team 78-67.
Cox finished that game with 10 points on 4/12 shooting, including 1/5 from 3-point range, while also adding eight assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Colgate had three players reach double figures in that matchup, pushing Kentucky throughout before the Wildcats ultimately pulled away late.
Since then, Cox has developed into the focal point of Colgate’s offense, taking on a much larger scoring and playmaking role. His growth as a shot-creator and floor general has elevated his game as a legitimate high-major transfer target.
Cox is currently ranked 169th overall in the transfer portal by On3 and 159th by 247 Sports.
With his visit to Lexington approaching, Cox will get another look at Kentucky, this time as a proven offensive engine, evaluating a jump to SEC competition and facing higher-level opponents.
