Nassourdine Imavov sent his hometown crowd happy, but it may not be the type of performance he needed to earn a title shot.
Imavov faced Borralho in a pivotal middleweight clash to headline UFC Paris on Saturday at Accor Arena. The fight went all five rounds, but Imavov found himself a step ahead of Borralho for most of the 25-minute contest to earn the huge win, and keeping himself in title contention.
The bout served as a sort of two-pack challenge laid out by UFC CEO Dana White. When the UFC announced
that Reinier de Ridder and Anthony Hernandez would battle in the main event of UFC Vancouver in October, White essentially said that the best fighter to emerge from those matchups would get the first shot at new middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev — who captured the belt from Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319.
