The fact that players in the transfer portal are having phone and Zoom calls with coaching staffs kind of reminds me of life in the Spring of 2020. How many times did we hear the words “Zoom call” or “phone interview?” Glad those times are over.
One player Kentucky Basketball is expected to get in contact with is Saint Mary’s forward Paulius Murauskas, who will have a Zoom call with Kentucky on Thursday, according to KSR’s Jacob Polacheck.
The 6-8, 235-pound Murauskas played on a Gaels team this past
season that was a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament before falling to Texas A&M in the opening round. He averaged 18.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 48.2% from the field. While he only shot 33.3% from 3-point range, Murauskas did shoot 84% from the free-throw line and primarily played the 4 spot.
Here is another great part about Murauskas: He has allready played at the Power Four level. Murauskas’s first season came in 2023-24 with the Arizona Wildcats, a team that was a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16. Although he played just 5.1 minutes per game, he made 14/27 3-point attempts and was 21/48 overall from the field.
Murauskas is a two-time First-Team All-West Coast Conference honoree and is capable of scoring a double-double every time he takes the floor. He would be a major signing for the Cats, but he’ll obviously be very challenging to secure a commitment from.
