Barcelona’s eight opponents in the opening stage of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League season have been revealed after the draw for the competition’s League Phase was made on Thursday evening in Monaco.
The Catalans will face Paris Saint-Germain, Eintracht Frankfurt, Olympiacos and Copenhagen at home and Chelsea, Club Brugge, Slavia Prague and Newcastle away between September and January as the Blaugrana look
to finish in the Top 8 to guarantee a spot in the Round of 16 and avoid the Playoffs, as well as trying to guarantee a Top 2 seed to make sure they’ll host the second legs of all knockout rounds.
The headline matchup is undoubtedly the Champions League Final we were all robbed of last season as Barça will face reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain as Luis Enrique’s side comes to Catalonia to reignite what has become a true rivalry over the last decade.
The other gigantic showdown is against Club World Cup champions Chelsea, who really wanted Barça and will get them at Stamford Bridge. We still don’t know which side of the rivalry Fermín López will be part of as of this writing, but there already are enough ingredients to make this a very interesting matchup.
The rest of Barça’s schedule is less daunting than last year’s, as the Blaugrana get Frankfurt and Olympiacos at home instead of having to face them in the brutal atmospheres of their stadiums in Germany and Greece. The only true monster away game is against Newcastle, who might not be as potent as they were in recent seasons but have a spectacular home atmosphere at St. James’ Park.
The full fixture list will be released on Saturday with the exact dates of Barça’s matches, but we do know their European journey will begin the week of September 16/18.
