It all comes down to this.
After a back-and-forth series, the Dodgers forced a Game 7 last night behind Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who once again threw a gem. Today’s game will feature two legends, and it is gearing
up to be a wild finish.
Shohei Ohtani (2-1, 3.50 ERA) will take the mound for the Dodgers to start the game. He will likely be used as an opener for Tyler Glasnow, who threw three pitches last night to secure his first-career save on a crazy game-ending double play. In his last outing in Game 4 at Dodger Stadium, Ohtani lasted six innings and gave up four runs on six hits. Two of his four runs were scored by a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. two-run homer in the third inning. Ohtani also walked one batter and struck out six. The night before, he went 3-for-4 with five walks (four intentional) with two home runs in the 18-inning Game 3 marathon.
Ohtani will take on the legendary Max Scherzer (1-0, 4.50 ERA), who is looking to solidify his legacy. The 41-year-old is making his 32nd career postseason appearance (27th start). Scherzer kicked off the 18-inning Game 3 marathon, lasting 4 1/3 innings and allowing three runs on five hits with three strikeouts and a walk. He allowed two home runs — one to Teoscar Hernández in the second inning, and one to Ohtani in the third.
Will the Dodgers repeat as champions, or will the Blue Jays hoist the “piece of metal” for the first time since the Rockies’ inaugural season?
