Boston College football is spiraling. After a series of close losses to open the season, they got absolutely dismantled by Pitt last weekend. The defense is injury-plagued, the offense looks lost, and
the whole team looks like they’ve given up. But hey, at least we have a kicker that can make field goals!

What to Watch For
- Will Dylan Lonergan be out there on Saturday night? For the whole game? Grayson James came in to replace Lonergan midway through the blowout loss to Pitt, only to throw an INT on his first drive. James would probably give BC a better chance to win this game than Lonergan would, but now that this is all but guaranteed as a lost season, it may make sense to give the younger guy the extra reps.
- Are you there, fans? The BC student section lost about 75% of its mass by the end of the third quarter in their last home game against Cal. And that was a close game! On top of that, this match-up against Clemson is likely to be a blowout, kickoff is at 7:30, and fall break is happening this weekend. Alumni Stadium is going to basically sound like Bapst Library on Saturday night.
- I’m looking for anything positive. Anything at all. Four weeks into the season, I was saying that the Eagles were basically 2 plays away from being 3-1. We’re well past that now. The defense is decimated by injuries and the offense somehow looks miles worse than how they started the season. On Saturday night, I’ll simply be looking for any signs of life. Can Bill O’Brien motivate this locker room? Can they put together a couple of sustained drives? Who knows.
Prediction: Clemson 42 Boston College 10
Hello darkness my old friend. I’ve come to talk with you again. I commend you if you’re showing up on Saturday night. I have some sort of incurable mental illness, which means I’ll be watching.
