Winning Week 1 is a special kind of awesome, especially when you start the new season with no injuries.
The Cincinnati Bengals had already entered Sunday’s opener relatively healthy. Following the 33-27 win over Tampa Bay, they have a chance to enter Week 2 with everyone on the 53-man roster healthy enough to play as they head to Houston to face the Texans.
On Monday, head coach Zac Taylor gave an update on his team’s health coming out of Game 1. While several players could start the week limited in practice,
there aren’t any significant injuries to report.
“Pretty good,” Taylor said when asked about the injury front. “Maybe a couple of guys limited early in the week, but we came out pretty clean.”
One player who had an injury concern during the game was starting linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr., who was sidelined late in the fourth quarter. However, that turned out to just be cramping during what was tied for the fourth-hottest home game in Bengals history.
The only player who was inactive Sunday due to injury was Shemar Stewart. The second-year defensive end was likely held out as a precautionary measure after he practiced all three days last week, so he should be able to play this week if the Bengals want.
About as good of a start as you can ask for.
