Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we are talking about Mizzou’s late night matchup against Georgia at home.
In a game that had a lot of play into whether the Tigers would be on the right or wrong side of the bubble, Mizzou fell just short against the Bulldogs dropping to 3-3 in conference play and 13-6 overall.
The loss puts the Tigers on the wrong side of the bubble following a hot start to the new year. Despite the loss, Mizzou will have plenty of opportunity to right their wrongs and sneak into the NCAA
Tournament in March.
From Matthew’s gamer:
Mark Mitchell led the way for MU, recording 18 points on a 7-of-15 mark from the field and five rebounds. Stone and Crews also recorded double-digits in scoring with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Some strong individual performances from key Tigers but it was the people around them that struggled to get the job done. Read the rest of Matthew’s gamer here.

At the very least, Mizzou has put themselves in position for a chance at back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since 2012-2013. Right now, Dennis Gates’ squad is in bubble territory — which is a better spot prior to conference play.
Impressive start to conference play — in a not extremely competitive conference — from Mizzou has been impressive. It’s just a matter if it can start playing with some consistency.
Reading the tea leaves, it’s easy to see where Mizzou’s staff envisions Reus: as a punter. Reus was a five-star punter recruit when he signed with Florida State, and his commitment graphic shows him punting the ball rather than kicking. Plus, you know, Blake Craig will be back next year.
Solid punter addition for the Tigers even if he doesn’t end up in the kicker position.
Graves spent a productive three seasons at Ole Miss and he’s coming off the biggest game with the Rebels. In the CFP Semifinal against Miami — Graves had seven solo tackles and three pass deflections.
Elite player headed to Mizzou. This is a super strong addition and he’s likely to jump straight into the starting lineup.
This isn’t a Kevin in Home Alone situation, or even as obscure as when the New York Islanders lost forward Mat Barzal on a roadtrip. Robinson is still starting, but his gameplay has seen reduction in minutes and in power.
Over the last four games, the guard has averaged around six points, quite contrary to his season average of 10.3 points per game.
In a press conference with media on Monday, Head Coach Dennis Gates also spoke about Robinson’s absence, saying, “We have to understand that Ant Robinson has to continue to play better for us. If he does not play well we don’t have a chance, I believe.”
I’ve been wondering the same thing. Can Ant figure it out ahead of the rest of SEC play?
The shot was one of Mizzou’s 25 attempts from beyond the arc. MU went 7-of-25 from the perimeter, a 28 percent mark, but outshot UGA from the field overall.
Hard to win a close game when the 3s aren’t falling. Hard fought game and not the end of the season for the Tigers.
Over at Rock M+ we have more Mizzou football discussion and basketball discussion with the transfer portal picking up for football, and SEC play picking up for basketball.
