Bayern Munich were called the best team in Europe by the coach of the team that beat them in the Champions League. Despite what Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said, his Bayern counterpart Vincent Kompany indicated
that being the best at this stage of the season means nothing.
“We had this discussion three weeks ago when we played PSG,” Kompany said after the match (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “They were mentioning the same thing. I don’t think any of us want to be the best team in November. We’re trying to use everything now to build our season towards being there in the important moments.”
The business end of the season is always the second half of the season or as the Germans call it: the Rückrunde. That’s when the decisive matches take place, so anything that happens now is only part of the build-up or as they say: it’s just getting started.
