This week’s Inside Seminole Football previews Virginia Tech with Mike Norvell and Mandrell Desir:
Despite the downward trajectory
of the season Mike Norvell was adamant in yesterday’s press conference in calling these close losses part of the transitional phase because “we’re going to win a championship here in the very near future.”
The job I’m going to show up and do is I’m going to pour everything I have in this team with a championship expectation for us to grow and be better. Why I can say that? I’ve actually won a championship. I’ve done that. We’re going to do it again. We’re going to do it here. That might piss people off. So be it. They’ll be celebrating when we are hoisting a trophy….I’ve got elite expectations, and we’re going to win a championship here in the very near future.”
No major changes on this week’s depth chart.
Josh Pate made a fairly simple but effective point about the Mike Norvell situation; what must be done eventually should be done immediately.
“I’m not yelling for Mike to get fired. My opinion doesn’t matter here, Pate said. “The opinion of the people who do matter, big money people, administrative types, the athletic director at Florida State, all seem to be that he is going to get fired. So if he’s going to be fired eventually, why aren’t you doing it immediately?
Brendan Sonnone of Noles247 made a good point; of the 14 or so programs capable of winning a national title, only Florida State has let a coach with a winning percentage under .600 coach six or more years at their respective programs.
