Bayern Munich were justifiably very quick to come out and turn down any and all of the advances for Michael Olise from Real Madrid in recent weeks. The German Rekordmeister have remained adamant that the French winger isn’t for sale for any price this summer and the extent of press coverage the Real Madrid/Olise rumors got prompted the La Liga giants to put out an official press release claiming they’ve not yet had any communication with the player or his representatives in any way. How true that might
really be is up to everyone’s own interpretation, but the world has clearly taken notice of just how much of a world class talent is and it’s no surprise that Bayern is ready to do whatever it takes to tie him down to a contract extension.
As things currently stand, Olise’s contract at Bayern runs through June 2029 after he signed a five-year deal when he joined the club from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024. With the way he’s performed and just how vital he is to Bayern, it’s no surprise that the club is eager to tie him down to a new deal at some point.
Per information from kicker’s Georg Holzner (via @iMiaSanMia), there were already some “exploratory” discussions between Bayern’s front office and Olise’s representatives over a contract extension at the club beyond the summer of 2029, but there has not been any sort of progression since those initial discussions took place. While there is plenty of time left on his current contract, Bayern would ideally like to get a new deal agreed sooner rather than later – they know just how many clubs, much like Real Madrid, are heavily interested in trying to turn his head away from Munich.
The club is also ready and willing to make Olise one of the highest earners, somewhere in the range of €25m per year, which is slightly less than what Jamal Musiala earns based off of his contract extension last year prior to suffering his serious injury at the FIFA Club World Cup. Right now, in addition to Musiala, only Manuel Neuer and Harry Kane earn more than €25m per year in the Bayern squad, so Olise’s performances have certainly merited a wage bump. Since he’s been with the club, he’s tallied a thoroughly impressive 42 goals and 54 assists from a total of 107 appearances at Bayern, which is certainly cause for getting a slightly higher yearly wage.
Internally, there is also the belief that Olise has the perfect setup at Bayern, which is a sentiment shared by French national team manager Didier Deschamps; he knows his winger is at the right club. Bayern’s front office and supervisory board know that there’s a solid foundation, rapport, and understanding between Olise and Vincent Kompany in a way that gives Olise the freedoms on the pitch to do what he does so well. All things considered, an extension beyond 2029 seems more likely than it does less likely, but only time will tell what actually winds up happening.
