A year ago a struggling Jets team dealt a pair of high profile players, Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, at the trade deadline for a pile of picks in the NFL Draft.
With the 2026 Jets struggling, and star wide receiver Garrett Wilson looking visibly frustrated on the sidelines in Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins, speculation has begun about whether the Jets could look to make a big trade this year involving the three-time 1,000 yard receiver.
Wilson affirmed on Wednesday that he is not seeking
a trade.
That is good news for the Jets and their fans. The team notably told inquiring teams last year that Wilson was off limits. Unlike Gardner and Williams, Garrett Wilson will play a big direct role in the development of any quarterback the team selects in next year’s NFL Draft.
With that said, I think the Jets should understand that Wilson’s patience is unlikely to be infinite. His comments did evoke frustration and at least some degree of disappointment with his target share.
For many reasons, the Jets need to start winning games sooner rather than later. One thing far easier to achieve is making sure Wilson remains a focal point of the offense throughout games.
