The Pittsburgh Steelers will have several free agent options at their disposal to answer their quarterback questions.
Aaron Rodgers didn’t commit to a return in a Wednesday appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, and the Steelers could decide they want to go in a different direction regardless of Rodgers’ intentions. Kyler Murray is a free agent after being released by the Arizona Cardinals, and now so, too, is another two-time Pro Bowl selection.
The Las Vegas Raiders have officially released Geno Smith
after one disastrous season. After trading for Smith following the hiring of Pete Carroll, the Raiders went 2-13 with Smith as the starter in 2025, where he threw a league-leading 17 interceptions. Prior to joining Vegas, Smith had a very good three-year run with the Seattle Seahawks, seeing his career be resurrected. In those three seasons, he went 27-22 as a starter with 71 touchdowns to just 35 interceptions.
The Steelers have gone the path of signing veteran free agent quarterbacks in each of the last two offseasons, signing Russell Wilson in 2024 and Rodgers in 2025. Considering their situation, Smith is a name to keep an eye on.
