New York Post | Dylan Svoboda: The bookmakers have set their odds on Bo Bichette’s next team and surprisingly the Yankees are in the mix with the third-best odds. He would certainly represent an upgrade
over their incumbent at the position, however Brian Cashman was firm in his commitment to Anthony Volpe as the starting shortstop in 2026 when he returns from shoulder labrum surgery rehab. Unsurprisingly, the Blue Jays are listed as the firm favorites to keep Bichette in Toronto given how instrumental he was in helping them get to the World Series.
NJ Advance Media | Manny Gómez: Trent Grisham was the only one of the Yankees’ free agents to receive a qualifying offer — one of 13 players around MLB to receive it — and Michael Kay is not a fan of the decision. Kay feels that the $22.025 million value for 2026 would hamper the Yankees’ ability to make other moves should he accept the offer, despite it coming off the books at the season’s conclusion. Grisham is coming off a career year with 34 home runs and an .811 OPS — though with a severe drop off in center field defense — and would likely be a competent option to start in center field should he return on the one-year QO. He has until 4 p.m. ET on November 18th to accept or decline the offer.
Baseball America | Matt Eddy: 574 players around the minor league became free agents upon the expiry of their Uniform Player Contracts. The Yankees see 22 players depart the organization with some notable names mixed in. There’s veteran starter Kenta Maeda and journeyman third baseman Jeimer Candelario who both played at Triple-A but never showed enough to merit another shot at the majors. There’s also former third catcher Rob Brantly as well as next-man-up Andrew Velazquez who had a memorable short stretch with the big league team in 2021.
MLB.com | Jesse Borek: Yankees undrafted pitcher Adam Stone is finally finding some stability in the Arizona Fall League. He missed the last two seasons while recovering from a shoulder injury followed by Tommy John surgery, adding to a long list of adversity dating back to his college days. While at Harvard, he suffered a torn UCL and had a season cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic, all adding up to four missed seasons out of the last six. All the same, he showed enough in college to be added to the 2021 USA Collegiate National Team roster that included Paul Skenes and Dylan Crews, but went undrafted in 2023 after pitching all of 32 innings in college. He still worked diligently during all that time rehabbing back from injury, and now features an intriguing arsenal that includes a fastball in the upper 90s.
