In spite of a couple of major injuries that we really would have rather not seen, Oregon Ducks football is in relatively good shape ahead of tomorrow’s game against Montana State. That has not always been the case in past openers, so we’ll take whatever good news we can.
We already know about Evan Stewart’s injury during spring workouts. His torn patellar tendon is likely to have him out the entire season. The other significant injury was to freshman defensive back Trey McNutt, who suffered a broken
leg early in fall camp. Whether the Ducks decide to just allow him to fully heal and keep him out the entire season is an open question, but he’ll be out at least through September and the first part of October.
There are currently only a few players on injury watch, including:
- R-Jr. LB Devon Jackson is questionable. He has been dealing with an injury from earlier in the year. While he has been seen in fall scrimmages, it’s an open question whether or how much game time he’ll see against Montana State.
- R-Fr. S Kingston Lopa is questionable. He has been dealing with an undisclosed injury this fall. Whether and how much he plays tomorrow should answer some questions about his status.
- So. TE Roger Saleapaga is probable. Saleapaga has been recovering from a torn ACL suffered in the middle of last season. He is reported to be 100% and we’ll probably see him in action in the opener.
