What to Watch For:
- Fresno State: The Bulldogs had a solid year in 2025 and are looking to take a step forward. That mainly means finding a way to become more dynamic on offense, especially in the passing game. Can their defense hold up against the Trojans?
- Oregon State: The new-look Beavers will have an interesting opening game. It will be hard to know what to expect, but look for how disciplined the team is and how hard they are competing in the contest.
- Boise State: The Broncos face an uphill battle in their opening game. The biggest thing to watch is how the offense fares against a Power 4 opponent, something they struggled with last year. It’s also worth checking whether any wide receivers emerge to start the year.
- Texas State: The Bobcats enter the Pac-12 in 2026, but open the year against in-state Texas. The Longhorns will likely prove to be too much for the Texas State defense, but if their offense can keep them in the game, it will bode well for the year.
- Colorado State: The Rams should look completely different in 2026, but their first test will be against a longtime rival, Wyoming. It will be interesting if Jim Mora can unlock Colorado State’s potential
- Utah State: The Aggies get a nice tune-up game to start their season. It should aid them after bringing in new players this offseason who need time to gel. All eyes should be on how the offense is coming along with new players at key spots.
- San Diego State: The Aztecs took many steps forward in 2025 and have their eyes on bigger goals in 2026. Not much can be learned from playing the Vikings, but they will need to play more consistently and feature the passing game more often.
- Washington State: The Cougars and their new coaching staff will have a tough task in the Apple Cup to start the year. It will be interesting to see how quickly players can pick up Kirby Moore’s offensive system.
