AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns junior forward Camden Heide is expected to be available for this week’s games after suffering a shoulder injury that kept him from appearing in Saturday’s win over the Lafayette Leopards, according to head coach Sean Miller.
“Just banged his shoulder up, nothing significant,” Miller said on Monday. “We just wanted to make sure he’s healthy, feeling good. We anticipate him playing this week.”
The 6’7, 215-pounder only played nine minutes in the season-opening loss to
Duke, recording two rebounds and committing two fouls while going scoreless.
A Purdue transfer, Heide is a career 41.2-percent three-point shooter who averaged 4.7 points per game for the Boilermakers last season and is known as a strong athlete who recorded 10 dunks last season and shot 81.5 percent on close twos while recording a 17.1-percent defensive rebounding rate.
Heide is expected to be the primary backup to junior wing Dailyn Swain with the possibility of playing some power forward in smaller lineups.
