Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany was not looking for excuses after Bayern Munich’s frustrating 0-0 draw with Schalke 04.
Instead, he gave credit to a newly promoted side that made life extremely difficult for the defending champions.
“Congratulations to Schalke, they fought really hard for the point. We had our moments and created big chances. When you play against such a compact and aggressive team, then you have to take your chances. We could’ve won this game, but congratulations to Schalke.
Next time we have to score our goals,” Kompany stated (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Bayern Munich had opportunities to break the deadlock, particularly after Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Jamal Musiala entered the match. But Schalke remained organized, aggressive, and committed, while goalkeeper Loris Karius produced several important saves to preserve the clean sheet.
For Kompany, there is no need to panic over one frustrating result. Bayern Munich created enough moments to win the match, but ultimately failed to make those opportunities count.
That is the lesson the Bayern Munich manager wants his team to take from Gelsenkirchen.
