The Miami Dolphins placed veteran offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer on injured reserve last week, seemingly ending his season, with a knee issue. On Tuesday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler indicated Salyer’s season may not be over as the Dolphins have agreed to an injury settlement with the former sixth-round pick of the Los Angeles Chargers, releasing him from the roster.
Salyer will be able to sign with a team, including the Dolphins, during the 2026 season once his recovery is complete.
The Dolphins signed
Salyer to a one-year contract in March, expecting him to compete with second-year lineman Jonah Savaiinaea for the starting right guard position. Savaiinaea has played well on the right side, improving his play from last season when he was on the left, and seemed to close the door on Salyer’s chances of starting. The veteran seemed to be settling into being a primary reserve option for the Dolphins, able to play both tackle and guard if needed, but then landed on IR. Now, he will focus on recovery before looking to join a team in season.
Salyer appeared in 64 games, including 40 starts, in his four season with the Chargers.
