During the main event of Elimination Chamber this past Saturday, LA Knight was setting off for his elbow drop from the middle rope when he slipped and had to improvise:
Discussing that moment on this week’s Impaulsive, Logan Paul ran down Knight as his heel character, then explained what happened to WWE’s other Megastar from his perspective as a wrestler in that same Elimination Chamber match:
“That particular botch that LA Knight
had is not his fault… I can feel the ropes before I do the jumps — they are so slippery and oily, you have no idea. Especially when you have the last match of the night, cause its been used and all these oily, sweaty wrestlers are just greasing these ropes up, so by the time its 10 p.m. at night and you’re the last group to go, the ropes are soaking wet.”
And once Paul got going on that, he took aim at a recent addition to the WWE ring, namely the mat space sold to sponsors to display their logos:
“And guess what? I’m gonna say it — by the end of the night, the middle of that ring gets really slippery with them logos painted in there. I’ll just say it, bro, I noticed. I can’t get running full speed. I’ve gotta be really careful with my feet and my placement, because the logos that they now paint in the middle of the ring.”
He wouldn’t blame those slippery logos for the rough-landing Je’Von Evans experienced taking the Paul-verizer before being pinned by The Vision star (after putting Evans over as the future, Logan added, “I’m gonna say this: The kid is one of the best flippers in the WWE but all of a sudden, when it comes time to flip with me? He can’t do it. He can’t flip. Nothing happened… He’s fine. Buddy chalks it up, put some ice on the neck. Do a better flip next time and get going.”). Paul also wouldn’t take the blame for the logos, even though his Prime energy drink was the first brand to get a logo in a WWE ring:
“I started it with Prime. We were the first in-ring middle of the ring sponsor ever with the logo. It’s not us anymore, it’s not us anymore. I know this was a thing because before we did that, we were going back and forth with WWE about whether or not it was even possible.
“Because the way they paint it, they wanted to actually stress test the mats and have people wrestle and see if it got oily, and they determined that the type of paint they used was okay and that it wasn’t gonna be slippery. But then they started using colored paint as well. I don’t know what they’re using now, but I’m telling you, it’s slippery.”
Do you think Logan Paul is voicing a complaint others have behind the scenes at WWE? Do you think it will lead to any changes, or worse in-ring issues?
