Alabama’s offensive line has suffered significant attrition since the season ended, as starters Parker Brailsford and Kadyn Proctor declared for the NFL Draft, Wilkin Formby transferred out, and Kam Dewberry, Geno VanDeMark, and Jaeden Roberts all ran out of eligibility. This left only two players, guard William Sanders and right tackle Michael Carroll, with any meaningful game experience. And, there just aren’t enough bodies for depth.
Rising sophomore Kaden Strayhorn, who started at center for Michigan
in the Citrus Bowl, was added last week. Yesterday, two more pieces were added in Cal Poly center Racin Delgatty and Texas OT/OG Nick Brooks. The two are on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of experience.
Delgatty has plenty of game reps, but moving from the Big Sky conference to the SEC is quite a jump. Still, it’s hard to argue with what he’s done at the college level.
Delgatty spent three seasons with Cal Poly before entering the transfer portal. He’s from La Cañada Flintridge, California. Delgatty’s listed at 6-foot-3, 300 pounds.
Delgatty logged 1,316 offensive snaps over the past three seasons with Cal Poly, per Pro Football Focus. He allowed only one sack and two hits over those snaps. Delgatty spent 1,302 of those snaps at center.
He will likely need to add some strength in order to play at a high level at Alabama, but he is smart and technically sound. That goes a long way at the center position.
In Brooks, Alabama is getting a raw but big and powerful talent who will need some refinement.
A four-star tackle out of Grayson High School in Georgia in the 2025 recruiting class, Brooks’ first season was mostly spent on the interior of the Longhorns’ offensive line.
The 6-foot-7, 349-pound Iowan played 196 of his 221 total snaps, per Pro Football Focus, at left guard.
In games against Sam Houston, Florida, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Mississippi State, Brooks allowed 20 pressures and four sacks.
A massive tackle from Iowa who has lapses in pass protection? Where have we seen this before?
In all sincerity, Brooks was forced into action due to injury and wasn’t quite ready for prime time. With four years of eligibility remaining, I’d expect him to serve as depth in 2026.
We’ll know more once they start spring practice, but for now the starting group probably projects this way:
LT – Jackson Lloyd
LG – William Sanders
C – Racin Delgatty
RG – Kaden Strayhorn
RT – Michael Carroll
What are your thoughts on this group?
