Good morning Gang Green Nation! The New York Jets got some bad news yesterday regarding rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq. Sadiq was unable to practice due to a setback regarding his previous hernia surgery. The Jets expect Sadiq to miss time, but they think he will be available by opening day. Given that the Jets have emphasized a return by opening day rather than any point in training camp, reading between the lines it appears Sadiq may miss weeks of practices as well as possibly the entire slate of preseason
games. If that happens, we can expect Sadiq’s impact early in the season to be minimal at best. Having missed all of OTAs as well as perhaps all but a handful of practices in training camp, Sadiq will likely be well behind the rest of the team when the season begins. These are crucial practices to get rookies up to speed. We’ll see how this develops. Perhaps Sadiq will be back much sooner than expected and this will all be quickly forgotten. For now, however, Sadiq seems at risk of a somewhat disappointing rookie year.
