On Saturday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced that linebacker Cole Christiansen has been elevated from the practice squad and made eligible for Sunday’s road game against the Las Vegas Raiders. He will revert to the practice squad as soon as the game is over.
Following the Week 1 knee injury to linebacker Cooper McDonald, Christiansen has now been elevated for a third straight game. He played
over half of Kansas City’s special teams snaps over the last two weeks. Counting the postseason, the Army product has made 23 appearances with the team since 2022 but has never taken a defensive snap.
Christiansen has no more practice squad elevations permitted for the regular season. With McDonald required to miss at least one more game while on the Reserve/Injured list, fellow practice squad linebacker Cam Jones would appear a good candidate to be called up in Week 6, unless a linebacker is added to the active roster during the upcoming bye week.
Kansas City declined to use the other permitted elevation for Week 2. Previously, the Chiefs brought up defensive tackle Marcus Harris for Weeks 1 and 2. Harris dressed for both games and was on the field for seven total defensive snaps. Defensive end Tyreke Smith was elevated for Week 3 but was then declared inactive for the game.
