Fashionably late?
Conor McGregor finally arrived in Las Vegas for his UFC 329 headliner against Max Holloway on Sat. night (July 11), putting an end to speculation (some of it warranted) that he was going to no-show this weekend’s event. The former two-division champion also got his first look at the inside of T-Mobile Arena, the same venue that housed his last appearance, a 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier.
Some other familiar faces from that fateful night will also be joining McGregor for his comeback
fight.
“‘I’ve been gifted this ability to walk, pursuing my craft,” McGregor said on the UFC 329 “Countdown” special. “And for too long I disgraced that gift. And no more. So every day I count all of my stars and prayer to God that I’m able to get up and go. Keep going. Keep going. I am ecstatic with the opportunity that lays ahead of me and I look very forward to my return.”
Here’s McGregor arriving in “Sin City.”
McGregor, who turns 38 in just a few days, is a betting underdog against Holloway.
“I feel there’s so much left for me to conquer in this game,” McGregor added. “So much more accolades, more belts, more knockouts, more records, more cash,” he said. “I’m taking everything of what I have built. I can’t wait. I can’t wait. The fight game and the combat sports world is McGregor’s world and I’m in my prime here now. So, it is on me now to go and show that and that’s what I will do.”
