Max Caster was so good at being a schlub it turned him face, and Anthony Bowens went from being the breakout star of The Acclaimed to tagging with “The Best Wrestler Alive” despite still hating him in-story.
But the veteran getting them back together isn’t Billy Gunn. As his former Scissoring proteges work a reluctant reunion, it’s Jerry Lynn they’re working with, not Daddy Ass.
So when Gunn appeared on Fuel & Flex recently and said he has two stress fractures in his back, people assumed that was why Billy hasn’t been with The Acclaimed.
But in a statement to WrestlePurists, Gunn’s representation said he’s fine, just waiting on creative.
Billy is fine, this is a very old injury that he has dealt with for years. It does not interfere with wrestling or training. It just gets sore if he trains too heavy or hard. Attached is a video today showing everyone heiss ok. Because of the internet, our phones have been blowing up asking if his back is hurt. His absence from AEW is due to him not being booked by creative.
It’s good to know the 61-year-old WWE Hall of Famer is doing okay. As for his status with AEW, our only guess is that perhaps they’re waiting for son Colten to get healthy and rejoin brother Austin, then Billy can reunite with his own former AEW Tag champion sons?
