The Golden State Warriors tip off the NBA regular season with a matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers as part of Tuesday night’s primetime doubleheader. The game will be played at 7:00 PM PT in Los Angeles and can be watched on NBC and Peacock.
Previously with the Warriors:
The Warriors wrapped up preseason play last Friday night with a 106-103 loss against the Los
Angeles Clippers. The defeat left them with a 3–2 preseason record — a solid outcome considering the injuries and constant lineup adjustments throughout camp.
One thing that hasn’t changed is the excellence of Stephen Curry. The Warriors’ star guard averaged 18.3 points per game while shooting 44.8% from three across the preseason, capped off by a 20-point performance Friday night against the Clippers.
What to watch for tonight:
The main storyline heading into Tuesday’s opener will be the Warriors’ starting lineup and how head coach Steve Kerr manages his rotation. Moses Moody — who was a candidate to start for the team at shooting guard — remains out with a calf injury, but Jimmy Butler is expected to return after dealing with an ankle injury. With Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Butler, and Draymond Green locked in as starters, Kerr still has one spot to fill.
He could go with veteran big man Al Horford, who started a few games at center during the preseason and looked sharp in limited minutes. Or, Kerr might decide to go small — sliding Green to the five and inserting either Jonathan Kuminga or second-round rookie Will Richard, both of whom impressed during camp and the preseason.
No matter which direction Kerr takes, expectations are high for Golden State entering the 2025–26 season. With their veteran core of Curry, Butler, and Green back, and a supporting cast that better fits Kerr’s system, the Warriors are aiming to start the season strong with tonight’s matchup in Los Angeles.
