Samatha Irvin (real name Samantha Johnson-Mann) is believed to be a free agent after her two-year WWE non-compete clause is believed to have recently expired.
She walked away from her role in WWE as a ring announcer on October 21, 2024, and since that time she has independently released several songs. But Irvin’s two passions could have once intertwined, as she revealed over the weekend that WWE once wanted to become involved in launching a music career for her.
“WWE offered me a record deal, to which
I politely declined because I have no interest in the music business!” Samantha posted Saturday (Oct. 24) on X (Twitter). “My interest was in managing wrestlers. And that’s all I’ve ever expressed.”
She continued: “I made some songs last year for fun & videos with my colleagues from Cirque du Soleil and released independently for my singing fans from before wrestling but other than that, I made no proclamations about or efforts towards a ‘music’ career 🙏🏽 Singing career wise, I’ve had a fantastic one, though!!! Saw the world multiple times over.”
Though she seems intent on not dedicating her full attention to music, Irvin could soon be entertaining wrestling fans again soon.
Veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer last month reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Irvin’s employee contract with WWE included a 24-month non-compete period if she quite the deal before it expired.
On Friday, Fightful Select reported that AEW, where her husband Ricochet works, has “has internally discussed bringing her in a number of times, but it was made clear that it isn’t going to happen immediately upon her free agency.”
Irving offered a humorous reply on X to the report about being “internally discussed,” though she didn’t actually reveal anything with her message.
What do you think, Cagesiders? Would you like to see Samantha appear on AEW television soon? If so, would you prefer to see her as an announcer or a manager (potentially for her husband)? Let us know in the comments.
